FAQS

Is this meal spicy?
Yes, this meal has a good amount of spice. It is a Bibimbap, after all! Ours contains a house-made Gochujang sauce, made from Korean red chiles and fermented soybeans. Heat is subjective, so if you are the type to find a medium salsa way too hot, then you might steer clear. If you have a tolerance for and enjoy spicy foods, you'll find this dish to be a nice medium-level heat.

What is Bibimbap?
This popular Korean staple combines steamed white rice, with the spicy-sweet-umami flavors of Gochujang sauce, and sautéed vegetables. Traditionally it's served with a fried egg over the top, and while we have come very close to the real thing, this was one component that we couldn't replicate in a camp meal. We encourage you to add this on your own, though it's perfectly delicious without!

Spicy Korean ‘Mixed Rice’ With Sesame, Carrots and Spinach

Literally translates to ‘mixed rice’ but that doesn’t even begin to describe this Korean staple. The key component of this meal is gochujang—a deep red, spicy and immensely flavorful sauce made from Korean chiles and fermented miso. Fry an egg and slide it on top and you’ll swear you’re in your favorite Korean restaurant.

  • Loaded with carrots, shiitake mushrooms, zucchini and spinach

Important WARNING for California Residents

Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake Mushroom

Mushrooms boost immunity, support heart health, lower cholesterol—the list goes on and on. Shiitake is a variety known for its rich, yet mild and earthy flavors.
Spinach

Spinach

No surprise here—spinach is great for you. It's high in fiber, vitamins and minerals, and can even promote better eye health. It's a classic ingredient used in traditional bibimbap and ours is no exception.
Gochujang

Gochujang

The backbone of a true bibimbap. Gochujang is an immensely delicious Korean condiment, with its earthy, umami and perfectly pungent flavors. It packs some heat, too. We make our own by hand to ensure there's no preservatives.

Love Good To-Go but not crazy about this one

Tried this at home (always a good idea before taking on a trip) and didn't care for this one Lots of heat but I just didn't care for the flavor at all. Others seem to like it so must be my palate. To each his own!

STOKED!

I've been living in Hawai'i for the past four years, and this is right up there with most of the local Korean places that serve Bibimbap. Besides, it's just a great name for a meal. I had this while at work with some left over smoked pulled pork from an Imu. Definitely feel full. Real good heat to it too, which surprised me since it's dehydrated! I'll be keeping this in my bear can.

Quality Vegan Stuff

Great little bibimbap for waking up in the morning. Love that I can have stuff like this to supplement my diet when I live in a part of Maine where I don't've easy access to traditionally made bibimbap. Taste of the mushrooms and vegetables in it is strong and flavourful in comparison to other dehydrated foodstuffs.

Trusty Favorite

This is likely my favorite backpacking meal I've ever had and I return to it over and over again. Love the flavors and how nutrient rich it is.
