FAQS

What is korma?
Originating from Northern India, korma is an authentic creamy and fragrant dish of vegetables braised in yogurt with spices. Often, meat such as chicken or lamb is used, however it is just as traditional to rely on vegetables alone. Ours happens to be vegetarian-based, though we recommend that carnivores add their preferred protein to enhance their meal.

Is this meal spicy?
Not so much hot, as it is flavorful. We include many warming spices such as coriander, cumin and clove. If spicy-hot just isn't your thing, have no fear! This is a mild dish.

    Important WARNING for California Residents

    Parsnip

    Parsnip

High in fiber, potassium and vitamin C, parsnips are great for you, and taste amazing, too. This root vegetable is a close relative to the carrot, but it's sweet, nutty flavor sets it apart.
    Yogurt

    Yogurt

Traditional Indian Korma is made with vegetables (often meat, though ours is vegetarian) braised in yogurt with spices. High in protein, calcium and probiotics, yogurt adds a wonderful richness to this dish.
    Chickpeas

    Chickpeas

Also known as garbanzo beans, chickpeas are high in dietary fiber, calcium and magnesium. We add them to our Indian Korma for their nutty, savory flavor, and creamy texture.

    Indian Korma

I recently hiked the 100 Mile Wilderness and ate almost exclusively Good To-Go meals. They are all delicious and the warmth and spice was such a treat out on the trail!

    Tough texture

This was the first backpacker dehydrated meal I’ve tried based on a friend’s recommendation. The instructions say to add a cup of boiling water and let it sit for 20 minutes with the bag sealed so I did that. I don’t think 20 minutes is nearly enough time as all of the vegetables were tough, and the beans were kind of hard. It was late so I choked it down. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to use a cozy with these bags or just let it sit for maybe 45 minutes?
