FAQS

I really don't need a stove or hot water?
That's right—Stove-Free means just that. You can pour straight from your water bottle or from the faucet (if it's potable) right into the bag. Just 12 minutes later get ready to have your hair blown back, because your crunchy, fresh-tasting salad is now ready to go.

Is it spicy?
We consider this meal to be mildly spiced, with just a hint of Thai chili kick. Paired with coconut milk and peanuts, you'll find this meal is perfectly balanced and not overly spicy.

Cool Water - Neat In Theory

I'm very grateful for "Good To Go" as they are by far the cleanest ingredient dehydrated meals I found on the market. I hate to say I was just underwhelmed. I was at 8,500-9k feet of elevation and the first time I made this per the instructions it had way too much liquid and wasn't close to rehydrated. Being able to use "cool" water I thought would be great but personally did not enjoy it. I was also in very cold weather so that could have played a part. The second time around I used less liquid and let it rehydrate twice as long which was better (did this with all the meals of G2G I ate. Granted, the package does warn you of longer rehydrate times at elevation but I wouldn't have thought over 20 minutes to be necessary. Flavor was "okay", but did not enjoy the texture. They warn you of being crunchy which is fine but it was too crunchy in the dehydrated sense. Flavor was "okay", I ate mine on a wrap as suggested and that helped. Similar to the other meals I tried, it felt like when you go to someone's house and they've put too much seasoning in their meal. My hunting partners had the big box brand meals and while they have way too many ingredients I don't want in my body, they cooked faster and were tastier. Unfortunately there's a tradeoff to eat clean.

    Great meal

I was pheasants surprised with the flavor! This will be a great addition to my summer meals. No stove no worries…

I’ve been using Good to Go meals for years. Glad I stumbled across them at my son’s prompting. Thank you such great backcountry meals!

    incredibly delicious cold meal!

I was skeptical when I saw "add cold water". I thought "Yeah but, I'm sure it's better with hot water". Well, I went with the cold water recommendation, and it was amazing! What an amazing meal. Given I was staying at some AMC huts on a backpacking trip, this allowed me to pack some "light lunches" without the weight of a fuel canister and stove. I say light lunch, but I can't overlook the 29 grams of protein! This is a filling meal, and only requires a small amount of water. (half a cup). Many people complain that backpacker meals aren't very flavorful, but this one i just incredible! If you like Thai meals, you will love this!

This past summer on a backpacking trip, I stoped for lunch at the Ethan Pond Shelter in the White Mountains. I quickly prepped this meal, and as I start eating, I had a face-off with a squirrel! He got really close - I saw his little nostrils moving as he sniffed the peanut aroma . I felt bad, but I wasn't sharing. He quickly backed off.

I've now restocked this meal by the 6-pack a few times - I can't get enough!

    Best One

I love that you only need cold water and it was super refreshing this dish. Will definitely get it again. Great job.

    Best backpacking meal ever.

This was our lunch on day 2 of a 3 day backpacking trip in NC, the longest and hardest day we planned. Preparation was just the addition of cold water. I had my doubts but was pleasantly surprised. We made this into a sort of wrap/burrito by rolling the chicken salad in a tortilla. It was SO good! It has earned what I believe to be the highest compliment a dehydrated meal could receive: I would eat this at home! Consistency was like finely minced chicken mixed with peanuts and some magic sauce. Calories per meal are on the light side so it could be a light lunch out of the pouch or a more substantial one as a wrap filler.
