Tasty, quick and healthy!

This meal was delicious, especially when I waited just a little longer than the time suggested for the flavors to meld and the beans to soften.

Hearty but too spicy for me

Loved the rice and beans and plantains but way too spicy for me and left me feeling like a dragon. I can appreciate that spice level is objective so maybe I’m just sensitive :)

Really good - even for regular dinner

I was looking for something that was around 1,000 calories for my bikepacking trip. Originally chose this based on the calories but as soon as I heated up on the trip I was surprised by how good it tasted. It was filling and spicy (might be too spicy for some).

After the trip, I had a few pouches left over so when my wife was out of town I ended up heating them up for dinner. Thought maybe my hunger on the trip made the food taste better but when I had it under normal circumstances, I was still amazed at how good it tasted. Looking forward to getting some more. I even thought of trying other flavors but for now, I will stick with what I know.

INGREDIENTS: (notice how many you can pronounce!)
Onion, Instant Long Grain Rice, Dried Black Beans, Poblano Pepper, Sour Cream Powder (Cultured Cream, Nonfat Milk), Plantain Chips (Plantain, Non Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Salt), Garlic, Dried Tomato Flakes, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Rice Flour, Cilantro, Red Wine Vinegar, Dried Leeks, Ground Cumin, Sea Salt, Black Pepper, Dried Cilantro, Crystallized Lime (Citric Acid, Lime Oil, Lime Juice)

CONTAINS: Milk

Cuban Rice Bowl Directions

X  Tear pouch open and REMOVE oxygen absorber.
X  SINGLE SERVING Add a little less than one and a quarter cups (275ML) of BOILING (yes, boiling) water to bag. 
X  DOUBLE SERVING Add a little less than two and a half cups (550ML) of BOILING (yes, boiling) water to bag.
X  STIR and reseal. HANG OUT for 12 minutes. Think about how big the universe is. 
X  OPEN. STIR AGAINEATSMILE
X  Rehydration will take LONGER at higher altitudes.
