Why add the plantains after the meal is rehydrated?
We recommend topping your Ranchero Scramble with the provided plantain chips after the rehydration process. This provides a nice crunch, which we find to be really satisfying.
What is ranchero sauce?
Ranchero is a tomato-based sauce that includes tomato, onion, chiles and spices that packs a vibrant, earthy flavor. Often used as a condiment, it can also be used as a sauce for many traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes—most notably perhaps is with huevos rancheros.
X Tear pouch open and REMOVE oxygen absorber and plantain chip pouch.
X Add 3/4 of a cup (175ML) of BOILING (yes, boiling) water to bag.
X STIR and reseal. HANG OUT for 10 minutes. Think about how big the universe is.
X OPEN. ADD PLANTAIN CHIPS. STIR AGAIN. EAT. SMILE.
X Rehydration will take LONGER at higher altitudes.

Eggs are really hard to do in dehydrated / freeze dried meals, but this offering from Good-to-Go was really tasty. The blackbeans, spices and ranchero sauce (along with the Plaintain Chips) really made for a great start to the day on the trail. Highly recommend!
More egg, less spices. The spices totally overpowered this breakfast. There should be more substance to this meal. Otherwise, it was moist, "cooked up" as advertised and the portion was very adequate.
This meal adds flavor to the ordinary. It gives the mind and body something to look forward to.
My husband and I have celiac disease and dairy allergies so no gluten or dairy for us. He recently took this on a business trip for a safe breakfast and really liked it. I ordered a second round as we travel often and a fast, safe and tasty meal can be heard to come by when you are limited by food allergies
I liked the scramble but I found that it was better with more water added. I doubled it.
