The most coveted award in the outdoor industry, Backpacker Magazine's Editor's Choice Award, has been awarded to Good To-Go's Chicken Pho. This validates what many hungry hikers have learned as they dug into our latest creation. It's not often that ‘add-water-to-bag’ fare closely resembles the authentic version. But that's not to say ours was meant to resemble anything—this is the real thing.
It begins with chef Jen's love for the most delicious cuisines from around the world, creatively turning them into meals that are shelf-stable and ready-to-eat, wherever your adventures take you. Jen found her inspiration for this meal on a month-long trip to Vietnam, where she fell in love with the country’s Pho. During her travels, she would go from town to town searching out the best versions of this iconic dish. Jen’s favorite memory was that Pho was often served for breakfast…noodles for breakfast? Yes please!
So, what is Pho? Well, thanks for asking. Pho is—simply put—a Vietnamese-style noodle soup, known the world over for its comforting effects. The steaming, savory and immensely aromatic broth is the foundation of this restorative dish. Notes of cinnamon and star anise, followed by fresh ginger and clove keep it authentic. Our version includes braised chicken thighs, cabbage, scallion and cilantro to provide the additional sustenance needed for any adventure.
